Yasiel Alvarez Borges

Yasiel Alvarez Borges is a painter from the small village of Melena del Sur, of the province of Mayabeque. He is a graduate from Eduardo Abela School of Arts and has a postgraduate at the Superior Institute of Arts of Cuba. He was the top of his class in the specialty of painting.

He searches for truth in all his paintings, and the way he does this is through the representation of books. For more than a decade, he has placed books as the protagonist of his art. By putting the books as the subject of the paintings, he gives them more than a value for its physical presence but also for the great wisdom they all contain.

"I am motivated by the thirst for knowledge and our ever-changing society, that is why my work aims to dialogue with time and experience."
