Surrealism

Surrealism is defined as a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind. 

To this day this is reflected by our artwork by the juxtaposition of dream like images with reality to create escapes out of our reality as a better way to understand our own perceptions of the world. 

Currently a thriving art movement in Cuba with painters like William Chavez expanding on the Genre by adding his own personal experience as well as clearly Cuban symbolism and themes into his paintings.
