Eduardo de la Cruz Guerra is one of the most recognized artists in Oleos & Canvas. The theme of blackness and race has been explored in Cuba since the 1700s, and it has long been ignored throughout history as a valid academic field of study. Cruz Guerra combats this through his work as he battles with the terms of racism, humanity, and blackness through artistic discourse in the Cuban Nation.

The vision of his works is a demonstration of less symbolic, and less representative phenomenon that instead focuses on the strength of expression of Afro-Cuban culture, and give the world a share of it’s culture and history.
